Conversation Club Luncheon Training

OCC, in partnership with International Friendships, Inc., welcomes you to make an impact in the life of an international student. We are excited to share Jesus' love with them, while giving them an opportunity to become more fluent and familiar with our language, country and culture.

If you desire to volunteer one-on-one with international students from OSU, you are required to join the OC-IFI Volunteer team, participate in this training, provide references and complete a background check.

If you want to get involved by providing a meal, training is not needed. We invite you to join the OC-IFI Volunteer Team so that we can communicate with you about these events and what food is needed

What does the training cover?

Leila Gardner, the Asst. Director of Mission Support for IFI will conduct the training. The first part of the training session will first offer a general introduction to international student ministry, and cover IFI’s history, values, goals, and volunteer opportunities specifically. The second part will provide training on cultural awareness, cross-cultural friendships, communication, hospitality, and sharing your faith cross-culturally. You will be given access to a Resource Manual for future use. You will then be given instructions on how to obtain a back ground check.
